Architect Selection

May–December 2005

Architect Search Committee meets

January 2006

Committee recommendation brought to University's Capital Projects Committee for its approval

February 2006

Board of Trustees approved Helmut Jahn of Murphy/Jahn as the architect for the building

Design

March 2006–April 2007

Programmatic review and schematic design

May 31, 2007

Board of Trustees' review and approval

June 2007–Spring 2008

Design development, cost estimates, drafting of construction documents

May 2008

Board of Trustees' design and funding approval

Construction

September 15, 2008-Spring 2009:  Excavation and Slurry Wall Construction

The site is prepared, the hole for the structure is dug, and the slurry wall is constructed.

Spring 2009-Summer 2010:  Floor and Dome Construction

The lower level and ground floor are put in and the dome is constructed.

Autumn 2009-Summer 2010:  Bridge, Connections and Interior Work

The bridge from Mansueto to Regenstein is built, the pathway through Regenstein to the bridge is constructed, and Mansueto interior work is finished.

Winter 2010-Summer 2010:   Automated Storage and Retrieval System

The automated storage and retrieval system is assembled on the lower level.

September-December 2010:  Completion of Mansueto Construction and Loading of Materials

Finishing work is completed and materials from campus libraries are loaded into the ASRS.  Faculty, students, staff, and visiting scholars will begin using the new Library in 2011.
